Chip maker Broadcom Corp. beat its quarterly revenue target, citing strength in its wireline business segments, enterprise andbroadband, and it forecast continued revenue growth, sendingits shares up about 8 percent.

Freescale Semiconductor Inc. said sales for the first quarter of 2008 were $1.41 billion, compared to $1.54 billion in the fourth quarter of 2007 and $1.36 billion in the first quarter of 2007.
